2026

After 7 weeks, Christmas, illnesses, holidays, deps, acoustic gigs and even one played with E-Pete, we are back together as a whole band at Qudos on the third Saturday of January and it was magnificent. The sound in the room was really something and so many compliments. Lovely to see so many faces and friends, old and new for the first gig of the year. We’re back baby.

Look at her little face – Amber’s definitely happy we are all back together.

On the very last day of January we were grateful to be asked to play as part of Salisbury Live’s “Let’s Give” Gigs 2026 at The Avon Brewery in Salisbury on behalf of the Salisbury Women’s Refuge. We were joined by Rachel Sinetta, Shannon Laura, and the Disco Divas. Rachel’s songs were beautiful, Shannon’s songs were huge and the Disco Divas bought the house down and left us to pick up the pieces. At first count the evening raised over £300. Great job everyone!

Disco Divas and Ali G obviously
Amber poorly so Terry working hard!

After 7 years away, Valentines day on 14 February, saw us pull together another Hootenanny! With an incredible 17 musicians on the night and over 30 songs, it was such a joy to see so many smiling faces! The guts it takes to get up on stage and play with people you’ve just met with zero rehearsal and just go for it cannot be measured. We raised over £315 for Salisbury Women’s Refuge by just having great fun. Overwhelming feedback from musicians and audience is ” this has got to be at least an annual thing” and we agree. No more global pandemics getting in the way thank you. Thanks again to everyone who came and hope to see you all soon. You can see all the photos from LJ Photography here.

Good to see Simon working hard at the Hootenanny. Good plan – get a load of other people to do the work so you don’t have to!

To close our February we had a great night at the Royal British Legion in Salisbury Town Centre on 21 Feb. Brilliant to see so many familiar faces and see some new sights too. Genuinely great fun and some wonderful feedback from customers and venue staff alike. Thanks for having us!

In March we get to play at the Salisbury Music Awards. A great experience and one that is 13 years in the making. It’s great to see the SMAs recognising Cover Bands so strongly in the nominations this year.

If it looks like Break Cover and smells like Break Cover….

Next, some magic happened… Awards for 2025. Best Guitarist 3rd place: Simon; Best Drummer 2nd place: Pete; Best Bassist 2nd place; Dave; Best Vocalist 2nd place: Amber. Outstanding contribution to the Salisbury Music Scene: Simon & Terry. Best Cover Band Winner. Best Live Act Winner.

No, Simon hasn’t shared his beard off. That’s the mighty Colin Holton handing out some very unexpected awards.

For us, as a group, to win Best Cover Band for the first time in 10 years is amazing. To win Best Live Act, for the first time, up against the whole of Salisbury’s gigging music scene is… truly astonishing. Congrats to Simon and Terry for winning their award too. These are voted for for by you, the public, and that makes all of these achievements all the more special. THANK YOU.

60% of the band happily collecting awards. Look at their little faces.
2025’s Best Cover Band AND BEST LIVE BAND.. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU
Flashback to 2014 and 2015.

Phew. Well now that we are the multi-award wining Break Cover, it’s time to get over all that and get back to normal. Well, normal-ish. Playing on a massive stage in the middle of Salisbury Market Square being supported by DJ Darren Kidd and with a sound system provided by All The Kit is never going to be normal. However at the end of March, that’s where we find ourselves – in support of Salisbury City Council’s Live Music Stage. We are so grateful for everyone that came out to see us for our first outdoor gig of the year. It was sooooo cold but people came, people stayed, and danced and sang. Christian and Joe from All the Kit were awesome and great to work with. Terry kept warm by running about and testing the durability of the stage by jumping about on it. Thank you all for making that so much fun! Lots of photos here from the terrific LJ Photography.

Bunch of posers, the lot of them!

Good Friday at the beginning of April finds us playing at the Salisbury Rugby Club for Salisbury Live’s Beggars Bash. Sadly we missed the first act, Joe, and arrived in time to catch Dead Man’s Grip, a wonderfully 80s OTT rock band, our old friends LUMP and the Stereoholics (guess what they do). An amazing line up of bands before we get to do our thing! Thank you to everyone who stayed and to Brian and Steve from BSM for doing the very loud sound. We had an absolute blast and played right up to the wire with people dancing and singing along. So many awesome compliments too. We are just having fun – glad you are too. A draft photo of the silliness that was had

At the end of April we get to play a private gig for Howard who has been following us for 10 years and turns up to many of our gigs! Thank you for inviting us to play for your 60th! So nice to see so many of your friends and family there. We had tailored the set to all of Howard’s favourites then he asked us to switch to a more “Qudos” set for the remainder of the night so they could enjoy what we do too. Lovely evening, thank you. Warm already. Summer might be toasty.

The calm before the… less calm
Happy Birthday Howard – 60 today (well sort of, this one was taken in December)!!

The first May Bank Holiday and we are playing as both BC/DC and Break Cover at The Bull Hotel in Downton to coincide with The Cuckoo Fair. The line up is Mike as MC and playing his ukulele, Giles Halski, The Ditch Gypsies, The Sock Puppet Juke box, Band X (great dress sense), Bluestone Arc and 5 Nights at Adyans. The morning was glorious and the summer started well until Band X played and then it rained. A lot. And then the sun came back for our BC/DC set. One of those days with a lot going on. The bit where the same came out and the beer garden was full of folk was glorious!

Break Cover with what was about to be a very sudden finish!

One rock and roll moment… at the end our set we finished with a particularly rowdy version of Kids In America. To cut a long story short, on the very last crescendo note, a cymbal crashed to the floor slashing the mains lead in half. The fuse box blew and the set, most definitely, ended.

We go out of area for our first trip back to Southampton in many years! Join us at The Dolphin in St Denys on 16 May!.
